Jio conference

Recently Indian telecom company Reliance Jio has announced that they will there customers for all outgoing calls to other networks. It means that the only Jio to Jio outgoing calls will be free and other outgoing calls will be charged as 6 paise/minute said Reliance Jio.

Reliance who is India's biggest telecom network has decided to charge their customers for outgoing calls but why they are doing this? Jio stated that they are charging calls because of IUC charges which are fixed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The amount they taking from there customers will directly go to TRAI, Jio is not taking any additional charge to there customers. Now one question may be arising in your mind that what is IUC?

So IUC is Interconnect Usage Charge is a cost paid by one mobile telecom operator to another when its customers make outgoing mobile calls to the other operator’s customers. so the calls with non-jio users or you can say different networks, are known as mobile off-net calls. IUC charges are fixed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and are currently at 6 paise/minute.

Jio is providing  IUC Top-Up plans which start from 10 Rupees in they are giving there customers 1GB 4G Data for FREE and to ensure that their customers remain beneficiary of every tariff & scheme, the IUC top-up pack does not have any validity also this plan or top-up recharge is not mandatory. Customers who do outgoing calls can recharge to this top-up pack.

Jio plans details

In an update, Jio has announced that customers who have recharged before 10th October will not be charged for any outgoing call till there existing pack ends.

Now, when will this outgoing charge to non-Jio numbers end.

Jio assures its 35 crore customers that the 6paise / minute charge on outgoing off-net mobile calls shall continue only till the time TRAI abolishes IUC, in line with its present regulation. TRAI confirmed that IUC for mobile calls will be ZERO from 1st January 2020 It means outgoing calls to non-Jio customers will be free from 1 January 2020.
